Upgrading project management & moving accounting office

We carried out a first assignment for a large international group, active in the vertically integrated steel, mining and vanadium industry, listed on the LSE (London Stock Exchange). We led the project management for an ERP upgrade (enterprise resource planning; using enterprise software such as Microsoft Dynamics Axapta & SAP) and reorganised and relocated their accounting office.
During a phase of rapid business growth, we were able to guide the group’s largest trading company through its ERP implementation. We managed to alter the ERP workflow of the entire group and upgrade it according to the new business conditions. In addition, we reorganised the logistics and trading schemes for steel and coal products.
Our client was convinced by our vision. A new accounting team, recently relocated from Switzerland to Cyprus, was audited according to the group’s quality standards. In terms of administrative and financial reporting, we even managed to exceed expectations.

Efficiently reducing preparation time

With a different strategy, we got to work for a company that had reached the performance limit in its existing group reporting system. Through group and IT controlling, we replaced two FTEs (full-time equivalents) and implemented a new BI business system (SAP Business Planning and Consolidation).
Our expert controller combined the two functions and enabled a qualitative transfer of knowledge to the new employees. Those factors played an essential part in developing, testing and distributing the functionality of the SAP PCS and business reporting system. This enabled us to reduce the preparation time for the IT group budget (an amount of approximately 60 million euros) by a full month.

Auditing in the chemical sector

As accounting manager and regional finance controller, we intervened for a growing company. It concerned an ever-expanding work site, at that time comprising 25 group entities with a turnover of 500 million euros, including five chemical plants. We arranged the necessary documentation as soon as possible, including annual reporting, audit requirements and tax audits.
Then we sent in a managing team of seven accountants. We implemented the concept of local GAAP reporting (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) in SAP for several parts of the group. Additionally, we developed automated Excel templates for optimal balance sheet control.
Our consultant, who took on the role of EMEA SOX coordinator, was fully responsible for the critical controls of two acquired production sites in Germany and Estonia and significantly contributed to the cause. The results of our intervention greatly improved the internal control system in the EMEA region.

Improving productivity by upgrading ERP systems

For an urban real estate development group, listed on Euronext, we developed an ERP selection. The company is one of Europe’s most advanced players in the field of real estate development. New strategies were needed to raise the outdated ERP system to a new strategic level. An upgrade would allow the company to flourish over the next ten years.
We analysed the organisation’s main business processes and drew up technical and functional requirements for the new system. Then we made budget estimates, initiated a legal tender procedure and appointed a partner to implement the software. We contributed to negotiating favourable contract terms and approved a proof-of-concept phase.

We were tasked with taking part in the legal department of a business group in the land surveying sector. We closely monitored compliance with legal requirements and ensured that construction plans for real estate received legal support. On top of that, we reached important agreements on labour legislation and employer representation in the event of labour disputes. Our expert was responsible for concluding contracts, including:
Thanks to our intervention, clear communication with banks and insurance companies was established. We successfully registered LLC, JSC, agricultural companies, individual entrepreneurs and non-profit organisations. We altered founding documents and coordinated the process of registering share issues.
Our expert proved to be a key player in the client’s extensive arbitration and litigation practice. As a lawyer, he represented the interests of the corporate group before the courts in civil and commercial disputes. That includes government contracts, legal tenders, research, investment contracts, land disputes and real estate.
